Alexander Le, Research & data Director

Alexander 2

Alexander Le (he/him) is a junior at UC Berkeley intending to triple major in Economics, Data Science, and Philosophy. He brings a diverse blend of technical expertise, public service, and academic curiosity to his work. Alexander previously served with California Volunteers, Office of the Governor, led by Chief Service Officer Josh Fryday, now a candidate for California Lieutenant Governor, where he supported the technical effort under statewide civic engagement initiatives focused on community resilience and youth empowerment. As part of his experience at California Volunteers, Alexander has met powerful changemakers within the Californian policy space. His work at California Volunteers makes him well suited to direct the Green Policy Initiative's Research and Data efforts as he's also recently taken an Environmental Philosophy class exploring biospheric systems, ecological policy, and intergenerational justice.

Previously, Alex also worked as an Intern Data Scientist at Intel Corporation, applying statistical models like SARIMAX and ARIMA and machine learning tools like TensorFlow to real-world problems. He was also a NASA NCAS Aerospace Scholar investigating ionic liquid sorbents and their oxygen byproducts as sustainable solutions for life-support systems in space exploration. He is particularly focused on using data-driven methods to design equitable environmental policy that addresses climate change and promotes long-term sustainability.

When he's not working on other exciting projects, Alex enjoys playing chess, electronics, creative coding, trying different restaurants, and running.
