Jordan Johnson, Northern California government relations director
Jordan Johnson (he/him) is an incoming third-year Political Science and Legal Studies student at California State University, Chico. He draws on his Navajo and Shoshone heritage to promote environmental justice, equity, and long-term climate resilience. Raised with a deep respect for the land, Jordan is committed to protecting it for future generations through sustainable policy, student advocacy, and public service.
Jordan is a four-time intercollegiate national qualifier for California’s National Speech & Debate Team and was named the 2023–2024 Rookie of the Year. He has earned top placements in Persuasive Speaking, Policy Debate, and Impromptu Speaking, using his platform to spotlight issues such as mental health, environmental justice, and Native American rights. As elected student body president representing over 8,200 students at Yuba College, Jordan worked with administrators, drafted student-focused legislation, chaired board meetings, and led advocacy efforts at the 2025 SSCCC General Assembly. His leadership reflects a consistent commitment to student empowerment and equity in education.
Currently interning with a criminal defense office, Jordan supports fair legal representation for underserved communities. This work has sharpened his understanding of how legal and environmental injustices intersect. He also has experience managing real estate transactions exceeding $700,000, building a foundation in property law and strategic planning that strengthens his approach to sustainability.
Outside of academics and work, you’ll likely find Jordan at the gym or engaged in community events. He remains focused on driving policy change that ensures the long-term well-being of California’s diverse communities.
